Doing What’s in MY Best Interest; Money Management Etc.

Have you ever felt as though you weren’t on the right path or things in life were a little “off”? For the past 3-4 weeks I would say I’ve been in a weird place and things in life just don’t seem to settle as I’m use to. I always know when I’m in alignment with life when I feel a sense of inner peace and calmness. Right now I feel there is a “kink” in my process and today I finally figured out what was going on.

I know this isn’t your normal money management topic, but it’s something that is just as important and could indeed impact the finances if not handled properly. Lately I’ve been stretching myself a bit too thin and not focusing on the things I know I should focus on. Life activities, work, new relationship, and miscellaneous distractions, have slowly altered my natural path of life.

Today I was watching t.v. and author Carolyn Myss was being interviewed with the topic of your life’s purpose. Myss made it clear that we don’t “lose our path” it’s just we mismanage our tasks that ultimately fulfills our purpose on earth. When we live or focus on things that weren’t meant to be a part of our life path, we have sense of discomfort and uneasiness. Some people listen to those small warnings early on and others don’t. This can go for your money as well. When you overspend and mismanage money, you know it’s wrong, but do you listen to the small warning signs or do you spend your life away until you have nothing?

In trying to overcome my situation, I originally thought to myself that I would “do what I want to do”. I was overpromising and stretching myself to exhaustion and not taking care of important areas of my life. I even found myself overspending like eating out a lot being too tired to cook! I wanted to have better control over what I would do, and therefore do what I want. I then thought maybe that wasn’t the best way to phrase things. I think it’s better to say “do what’s in my best interest” because it encompasses those things I may not want to do (like workout!!), but it’s all in my best interest.

There are a few things I’m doing now that will get me back on the right path. Tightening up my budget is one thing…stop eating out!! Also, I’m going to make time to meditate everyday and stop to smell the roses.

What are some warning signs for you when your life is not in “alignment”? How do you handle it?
