My initial idea behind starting a blog titled “Lend Not Borrow” was to share my personal finance “wisdom”. After years of financial screw ups (particularly in the college years) and some financial triumphs I believed I could help someone else by sharing my stories and text-book learning. Hey, I’m still holding on to that thought BUT as I develop the site and gain more life experiences, my idea of what Lend Not Borrow should be about is changing.
Don’t be misguided, I’m still going to talk about your dollars and coins (because that’s just what I do!), but now I’m thinking what else can I do to help those who read this blog? I mean really, how many other blogs out there give you financial advice… even some good advice?? I don’t want to rehash information you can get off of every other financial planning site. What good does that do you? I love the title Lend Not Borrow because it not only speaks on financial matters but also gives the idea of being in a place of authority. The words lend and borrow are the difference between authority and subordination. Which would you rather choose?
One thing you may or may not know about me is I love, love, love anything that challenges my way of thinking. I pull from many different places to get a new idea on how something works. I believe self-improvement should always be a priority in life. I don’t want to sound Mary Poppins-like…but there’s something to optimization and paradigm shifts (or the way you view thing).
I can’t think of a better way to hold authority than to have authority of your own life. I get SUPER excited just thinking about how much you can do with your life if you just take the controls!! This blog isn’t just going to be about finances, you know why? Because if you can’t take authority over every area in your life, then the money really won’t last (or you won’t be happy with it). They were right on when they said money can’t buy you happiness!
Bottom line is, whatever I’m learning, I want to share with you guys. It’s no fun to learn new things if you can’t discuss it with others. I’m counting on you guys to share your own ideas too! Tell me if you think I’m right or wrong (definitely if you think I’m wrong…as I said I love it when someone challenges my thinking!).
Lend Not Borrow is more than winning with money; it’s about winning with life (wow that sounds cheesy- but hey, I stick by it!)) This site isn’t for the weak at heart, just for someone who’s looking to have their thoughts and ideas challenged! Are you with me? Let’s get it!!!!!
