Who doesn’t love using coupons and saving money??? As you may know, extreme couponing is the new phenomenon and in this economy how can you deny the concept of saving a dollar here and a dollar there?? Every Sunday I try my best to grab a newspaper to take advantage of the deals and coupons for the week. I’ve even scoped out some of the coupon websites (though I don’t have much luck there, honestly!). I love nice things and I love to get nice things at a deal. I’m not too shy to bargain and/or barter! How do you know if you don’t ask, right??
So, my new exciting coupon adventure is receiving coupons in the mail or via email from some of my favorite retailers. I’m a big fan of stores like Macy’s, Bath and Body Works, and Express. I used to get annoyed when I shopped and the cashier asked for my phone number and/or email address. How annoying are they!? I just want to shop and move on! I don’t need the extra spam mail PEOPLE!! Then one day I was caught off guard and I gave my phone number and email address. Ugghh!! They got me!!!
Well, a few days later I began to receive great coupons. Spend $75 get $25 off. Spend $30 get $10 off. Interesting… Then I began getting coupons in the mail offering free items (that’s right, I said FREE!!). Whoaaaa….what have I been missing out on all this time?
Now I have to say this: retailers hope you use all the coupons they send you. You get in the store and their thought is you will spend more. You have to be SMARTER!!! Don’t fall into their TRAPS!
You have to learn how use the deals to your advantage. What do I mean by this? Example: I use the hand soaps at Bath and Body Works and just ran out. I looked through my pile of coupons and saw I had a “spend $30 get $10 off” coupon. Bingo! My time to buy!! I don’t buy on the coupons if I don’t need it or if it’s something I wouldn’t normally buy. That’s how you get in trouble!! Another example: I needed an oil change today and again rummaged through my stash and voila (magic!) a $5 off coupon!!
You can’t deny the power of saving through the use of coupons. Sunday newspapers, coupon websites, and now via email and mail, there are MANY ways to save.
I’m eager to hear how you save on your everyday items. Are you an extreme couponer?? What are you other money saving tips?
